After putting America on wheels with the Model T in 1908, Henry Ford stuck with the original design until competition forced him to change. The response was the Model A.
The first Model A's were introduced in the 1928 model year and they were an instant success. It was estimated at the time that 10 million people went to see the new Ford within the first three days of its introduction. More than 600,000 Model A's were sold in 1928.
This 1929 coupe was owned and used by Henry Ford himself. The coupe was just one of a variety of body styles ranging from roadster and town car to pickup trucks and fire engines.
The Model A, with its 40-horsepower, four-cylinder engine, self-starter and distinctive blue enameled oval nameplate with the Ford name on the front of the radiator, was faster and more stylish than the Model T. Henry Ford's coupe had a black metal body with red striping, wire wheels and a short, leather-covered hood over the windshield. The interior was upholstered in green-gray cloth. THE SPECS Price
